Highgate Cemetery - Cementerio de Highgate

Although it could sound spooky, this cemetery is a recommended place to visit, walking through it, contemplating the grounds, full of trees and flowers, and the architecture and sculptures, makes you feel the peace and tranquillity of the place.

The cemetery is placed in the north of London, the closest tube station is Archway (Northern Line) and from there, it´s just 15 minutes walking, but you will enjoy this fantastic neighbourhood on your way to Highgate. Cemetery is divided into two areas, west and east, you will have to pay separately to join each one. The most impressive one is the west cemetery, but the entrance is only allowed with a guided tour (approx. 1 hour) and the ticket price is £12, but you will found the most stunning architectures, including the Egyptian Avenue and the Circle of Libanon. In this area you can found buried Michael Faraday, Alexander Litvinenko  and the family of Charles Dickens.

The east cemetery is where Karl Marx is buried, but also it´s a good place to walk without pressures due not guided tours are required to visit it. Tickets for this area are just £4. Don´t be scared of this kind of visits and give a chance to this amazing place.

Aunque pueda sonar un poco tétrico, este cementerio es una visita recomendada. Caminar a través de él, contemplando el paisaje, lleno de árboles y flores, y de la arquitectura y esculturas del lugar, te hace que notes la paz y tranquilidad del sitio.

Este cementerio está localizado en el norte de Londres. La estación de metro más cercana es Archway (Northern Line) y desde allí son solo 15 minutos andando, los cuales disfrutarás debido al bonito vecindario que lo rodea. El cementerio está dividido en dos áreas, la este y la oeste, las cuales tendrás que abonar separadamente para entrar a cada una de ellas. La más impresionante es la parte oeste, el único inconveniente es que solo se permite la entrada con una visita guiada (de aproximadamente 1 hora) y el precio es de 12 libras. Sin embargo merece la pena, aquí encontraras los elementos arquitectónicos más sorprendentes de este cementerio, incluyendo la Avenida Egipcia y el Círculo del Líbano. En este área se encuentran enterrados Michael Faraday, Alexander Litvinenko y la familia de Charles Dickens entre otros.

El cementerio este es dónde se encuentra la tumba de Karl Mark, pero es también en su conjunto un lugar genial para caminar, esta vez sin presión debido a que no es necesaria la visita guiada y puedes andar libremente por todo el área. La entrada es de 4 libras. 

No te asustes con este tipo de visitas y dale una oportunidad a este increíble lugar.

Shoryu Ramen

This restaurant, placed close to Piccadilly, opened a couple of month ago. At first they only have a local on 9 Regent Street, but they recently opened a new one in Soho, close to Shaftesbury Avenue, on 3 Denman Street.

Basically their speciality is Ramen, having a chef from Hakata, the japanese district well-known for the tonkotsu ramen that Shoryu specialises in. You will find different kind of this japanese dish, with different broth (pork, chicken, soy...) and different ingredients. I have tried three of them, but I recommend the Charsio Tonkotsu and the Karaka Tantan Tonkotsu if you are more brave and you love  spicy food. You can also find a good selection of starters, Gyoza is a good choice.

As I have mentioned above, on 11th of April they opened the Soho restaurant and to promote it, they have an offer finishing at end of month, all ramen dishes at 50% discount on this restaurant. So, enjoy the offer, and discover this fantastic place.

Este restaurante, situado cerca de Piccadilly, abrió sus puertas hace un par de meses. Al principio, contaba solo con un restaurante, situado en el numero 9 de Regent Street, aunque recientemente han abierto otro local en el Soho, cerca de Shaftesbury Avenue, en concreto en el numero 3 de Denman Street.

Básicamente están especializados en Ramen, trabajando con un chef procedente de Hakata, el distrito japonés conocido por el tonkotsu ramen, el plato estrella del menú. Puedes encontrar distintas variedades de este plato típico japonés, en los cuales cambia su caldo base (cerdo, pollo, soja...) y los distintos ingredientes. Yo he probado tres de ellos, de los que destaco el Charsio Tonkotsu y el Karaka Tantan Tonkotsu si eres más arriesgado y te gusta el picante. También dispone de una selección de entrantes, entre los que destaco los Gyoza, una especie de empanadas de verduras y carne.

Como he mencionado anteriormente, el día 11 abrieron su segundo local, así que están de promoción, y hasta final de mes puedes encontrar todos los Ramen a mitad de precio en el restaurante del Soho. Aprovechad!

The beginning - El comienzo

After 7 months and a half living in London, I'm still believing that I don't know the city at all. I have discovered many places: parks, buildings, historic monuments, restaurants, pubs, shops... But I have the feeling that I have only known a 5% of this amazing place. So, I would like to share with all of you my adventures, the places I like the most in the city, the typical ones that appear in the London guides and those less known by the tourists, my favorites and not so favorites restaurants, the events that London hosts and the trips you can do from here. London, here I am!! And I'm going to explore you!


Después de 7 meses y medio viviendo en Londres, todavía creo que no conozco la ciudad para nada. He descubierto bastantes sitios: parques, edificios, monumentos históricos, restaurantes, pubs, tiendas... pero todavía tengo la sensación de que no conozco ni un 5% de este increíble lugar. Así pues, me gustaría compartir con ustedes mis aventuras, los lugares que mas me gustan de la ciudad, aquellos típicos que aparecen en todas las guias de Londres y aquellos que no son tan conocido por los turistas, mis restaurantes favoritos (o no tan favoritos...), los eventos que puedes encontrar y todos los viajes que puedes hacer desde aquí.
